What’s the single biggest health threat women face?

One out of every two of you reading this right now will be impacted by cardiovascular disease in your lifetime, warns cardiologist Dr. Noel Bairey-Merz, Director of the Cedars Sinai Women’s Heart Center in Los Angeles. And worse, diagnostic and treatment strategies “developed in men, by men, for men for the last 50 years” are not working so well for women.

Go grab a cup of coffee, sit back, and enjoy this must-see presentation.

  1. Carolyn ~ This was an excellent video! Dr. Merz certainly has the vast knowledge, utmost compassion, and public speaking skills to captivate and draw attention to the advocacy for women and heart disease that we heart sisters very seriously take to heart.

This would be a great video to show at a WomenHeart luncheon or event in addition to women’s heart survivor stories. I would love to hear Dr. Merz speak in person someday. I also appreciated that she acknowledged another female cardiologist, Dr. Healy’s major contributions to studies and advocacy work on women and heart disease. When Dr. Healy passed away last year, I chose to make a donation to WomenHeart in her memory for all she did for us.

    1. I think this film would also work well if it were shown at a support group for heart patients. That’s a great story about your WomenHeart donation in honour of Dr. Healy. Thanks for your perspective here.
