test your heart smarts

How much do you know?
Over 80% of Canadian women have one or more heart disease risk factors (and almost half have three or more!) yet most of us are shockingly unaware that we are at risk. Take this ‘Heart Truth’ quiz to evaluate your own unique risk profile.
Most common cardiac risk factors:
- high blood pressure (or ‘hypertension‘)
- high LDL (bad) cholesterol, low HDL (good) cholesterol and high triglyceride levels
- smoking (even one cigarette per day damages your heart)
- family history (Mum or sister with heart disease < age 65, Dad or brother < age 55)
- high levels of chronic stress
- obesity (‘apple-shaped’ body or waistline >35″ for women)
- age (or early menopause; after menopause, risks increase)
